Around the World in Eighty Days for some reason, somehow, won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1956.  WATCH THIS VIDEO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8DNHqserog

Sometimes, it happens. The weakest film, with the weakest script and, not one acting nomination, gets the Award for various reasons. Like I said, it happens. It happened when the greatest Movie Western ever made, was made. It happened when the 12th greatest movie ever made, was made and it wasn’t even nominated. John Ford’s The Searchers got snubbed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 1956 and we can no longer allow this injustice to stand before us. I am more than ready to DeOscarize Around the World in Eighty Days to make John Ford’s The Searchers, starring John Wayne,

WHAT IF,  in 1973, at the Academy Awards Ceremony, when The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarded crafts and performances for the films of 1972. The members of the Academy saw fit to award MARLON BRANDO the Best Performance by an Actor in a lead role for his portrayal as Don Vito Corleone in the Francis Ford Coppola masterpiece THE GODFATHER. What if the Academy had decided to say, “OK, Marlon? You don’t want it? We’ll give it to someone else.”?  To whom would you have given the Award for Best Actor 1972? THEY DIDN’T DO IT THEN. LET’S DO IT NOW.  My vote is for PETER OTOOLE in THE RULING CLASS.

but there were some other great nominees who gave great performances and there some great performances that didn’t even get nominated. Come to DeOscarize and have your say in who gets NEW Best Actor 1972!
