We have already considered the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Best Actor nominees for 2013 with the declaration that no matter who wins Best Actor, and it should be Bruce Dern, in the world of DeOscarize dot com he who is not Bruce Dern will be DeOscarized. On further consideration, although without the decades of film making that Bruce Dern has seen, there is an actress whose body of work remarkably all in one decade is still formidable for the number of times in these past ten years that the Academy members chose to nominate Amy Adams
for an Academy Award. All previous nominations wiere for Best Supporting actress.
This year Amy Adams gets her first Best Actress nomination and frankly, though faced with a formidable array of nominees, her performance in American Hustler
this past year and the occasions when she deserved to win before, prompt me to assure those who come to DeOscarize dot com that any actress this year who wins Best Actress 2013 and is not Amy Adams shall be deoscarized. Something else! All the other nominees for Best Actress 2013 are previous winners. Amy Adams is the only one in this illustrious group who has yet to win that which she so richly deserves after so many nominations and so many more great performances. amy Adams came into my consciousness in 2002 when she made an appearance in the season opener of The West Wing. Three years later, Amy Adams was nominated Best Supporting Actress 2005 for her performance in Junebug a little film with a small budget and a respectable profit. Rachel Weisz
won the award that year for the Constant Gardener. Amy Adams then did a couple of films that really brought her to the attention of the general public by appearing in Catch Me if You Can with Leonardo DiCaprio
movie which got her a lot of attention and then, in an interesting and successful Disney animated musical called Enchanted. Amy Adams can sing too.
Amy Adams’ next nomination, Best Supporting Actress 2008 was for her performance with Meryl Streep in Doubt. Viola Davis
was nominated too from the same film in the same Best Supporting Actress category which usually cancels each other out and Penelope Cruz won Best Supporting Actress that year.
Then Amy Adams appeared in a favourite little film called Sunshine Cleaning.
This is a hidden gem. Do See it. She should have been nominated in this film. She was also snubbed a couple of years later when she was denied a well-deserved nomination for her performance in Julie and Julia. Meryl Streep gets a nomination and Amy Adams doesn’t?
Come on. She certainly deserved her next nomination for her performance in The Fighter in 2010.
Like I said nominees from the same film usually cancel each other out but this year was an exception. Melissa Leo
won that year and made Academy history. Just two years later, another Best Supporting Actress nomination in 2012 for her performance in The Master; yet another interesting film and again with the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.
All within the last ten years! I wonder if she realizes this won’t be happening in the next ten unless she’s another Meryl Streep and judging by the quality of her performances, she may very well be. She is nominated this year for the first time as Best Actress for her wonderful performance in American Hustle. Like I said, she deserves the Academy Award this year for her performance in this film and considering all her other great performances over the last ten years. Not to consider them would be negligent and unjust and we can’t have that at DeOscarize dot com. When the time comes, I invite you to come to DeOscarize dot com and support or deny my decision to DeOscarize anyone who wins Best Actress 2013 and is not Amy Adams.
I’d be doing it thirty or forty years from now anyway but nature demands that I do it now as I want justice to finally be served Amy Adams by DeOscarize dot com if the Academy doesn’t do it first. That’s usually the way it goes.
Of course I can see where folks might think I’m wrong. I’m prepared to make my case for DeOscarizing any actress who wins Best Actress 2013 and is not Amy Adams. Can you make the case to prevent it? Is there someone else you would DeOscarize Amy Adams for? Let’s discuss it.
